Lake Illawarra has dedicated this carnival in memory of our long-serving member, Howard, who passed away in
November 2025. Howard was an esteemed presence at our centre for over 50 years and contributed greatly to the
Mid South Coast Zone, as well as Regional and State Events. He was widely recognized and respected within the
athletics community, and his loss is deeply felt by his family, our centre, and all those who knew him.

of volunteering with Athletics. He Shaped a Community, guided young athletes, and built a legacy of service that will

Howard’s achievements include Life Member of Lake Illawarra, Mid South Coast Zone, Athletics Wollongong,
recipient of the LANSW Merit Certificate and received the NSW Sport Distinguished Long Service Award in 2022
